It is one of the most endangered animal species in the world - only about 1,400 seals are left, about 40 seals in Oahu. It is protected by the Marine Mammal Prtection Act, Endangered Species Act, and Hawaii state law. So, we need to respect seals to rest and sleep on the beach when we sight them. You are very lucky if you see them on the beach!</p>
